Do
British Banks have branches in Greece?
Some of the U.K. High Street Banks do have branches
in the main towns and cities. Smaller towns have Greek
domestic banks with branches in the U.K., such as the
BANK OF CYPRUS, EUROBANK and the NATIONAL BANK OF GREECE..

Do
I need a Greek bank account?
It is worth opening a Greek Euro account. Your
lawyer will be able to open a local bank account for
you in joint names to allow you to transfer money from
your home country to Crete to finance your purchase.
Your lawyer will then be able to forward the stage payments
to the builder when you request her to do so. Also is
recommended for payments as water, electricity, etc.

Currency
Exchange
Currency Exchange Issues: Protect yourself! When you
buy a property in Greece, you will know the price of
the property in Euros, but you will not know the actual
cost until you have exchanged all of the currency to
pay for it.This means that the property could either
cost you more than you had planned (if the value of
the Euro increases) or the property could become cheaper
(if the value of the Sterling increases). Recently,
the Sterling has fluctuated more than 10% in comparison
to the Euro within a matter of months, so this does
deserve careful consideration. On the basis that you
are buying a property and not following the currency
market, it is in your best interest to negotiate a fixed
exchange rate for all of your future stage payments
to New Century immediately after you have decided to
buy your property.
